Hi,
I have the same problem. I find that writing down the characters I copy
rather distracting and tends to make me lose characters. I guess I could copy
at 18 wpm but still writing down is the hardest part.
Also, is it advisable to be buffering (lagging) in your decoding? Or
should I strive for no lag situation?

Around 1980 I was a student at UNSW. One of the UNSWARS members had
gained access to computer time on a PDP-11, and the necessary interfaces
to make a RTTY repeater. We applied to the WIA for repeater approval,
including a document which explained all about the ASCII code.
We were refused permission for any kind of repeater running ASCII. The
official response was simply "NO", the rumour was that WIA disposals
had a lot of metal monsters that they still wanted to get rid of.
I suspect the actual reason was just that those in control didn't want
to see anyone doing anything different or innovative.

Mike,
I once had my Plymouth Reliant die momentarily when I keyed the 2 mtr rig.
45 watts to a wet 1/4 wave mag mount. No problem when it's dry.
When I keyed the transmitter, the electronic fuel injection stopped.
Not a problem if your going down hill, I suppose.

Put the * at the beginning and the search must take in the whole data
base. You just have to sit back and wait. Of course you will get tons of
output including the frequency of Old Mc Donalds Farm :)

Does anybody know if there is a ham radio club at Boston University? I
got somebody insterested in ham radio through email. Since I do not
live in the Boston area, I would like to see if it is possible to hook
the person up with the club at Boston U. I have checked the university
club station list posted a long time ago on this newsgroup, but Boston
U. was not on it.
I would appreciate if you can respond through email. I have not had
much time to check this newsgroup recently.
Thanks and 73.

Subject: Questions on 2m Amp Market
To: info-hams@ucsd.edu
Hello. I am conducting some preliminary market research for a small
business which I plan to start during 94. I am considering offering 2m
amplifier kits. My questions at this point call for a survey of sorts
to determine what features are important and in fact is such a kit
likely to have any appeal.
Please respond via email if you have opinions on the following.
1. Would you consider building a kit amplifier if the performance was
comparable with current market offerings?
2. If yes to question 1, how much savings are required to justify
building a kit versus buying a built amplifier.
3. What features would you most like to have in a kit?
4. Are there any features which current market offerings do not have
that you would like to see in a kit?
5. Do you think use of amplifiers with HTs, particularly for mobile use
would significantly improve your communications?
Thanks in advance for any feedback, and please add any additional info
that you think is appropriate for this research.
